Free browser strategy MMO objections, answered straight: free? download? pay-to-win? bots? early access? No invented player counts — just how Blood and Thunder actually works today.
No. You cannot buy armies, gold for combat advantage, or research power. The only commerce path we design around is player scripts on the Script Marketplace (automation and tactics for sale — not stats). Marketplace payouts are still shipping toward v1; we will not pretend checkout exists before it does. Read anti-pay-to-win features: https://bloodandthundergame.com/features.
04
Are bots and automation allowed?
Yes — automation is a first-class part of the game, not a ban risk. Write city and battle scripts in a readable DSL, drive the same actions through the public REST API, or play entirely by hand. Everything the UI can do, a script or API client should be able to do. Explore scripting and the public API: https://bloodandthundergame.com/scripting.
05
Do bots attack new players?
Official AI empires never attack human players. Bot fleets only target cities where owner_is_ai is explicitly true; missing or false fails closed. Other human players (and their scripts) can still raid you — that is multiplayer. The living AI world keeps the map moving without farming newcomers. How the living AI world works: https://bloodandthundergame.com/features.
06
Is Blood and Thunder in early access?
Yes. The live build is early access (v0.x / pre-1.0). Systems are incomplete, balance will move, and docs can lag the code. We want hard feedback more than flattering quotes. We do not invent player counts, awards, or review scores. How to send feedback: https://bloodandthundergame.com/feedback.
07
How many worlds are there?
One persistent world. There are no seasonal wipes and no end-of-round resets by design. Cities you found, borders you push, and reputations you earn stay. Additional servers would only appear if traffic truly demanded it — the product is a single shared Ashenmoor map. Read about the world of Ashenmoor: https://bloodandthundergame.com/world.
08
What happens if I am conquered?
Total elimination is temporary, not permanent. Defeated players respawn on the world's outskirts with a fresh start while the shared world and its history continue. Progress compounds for survivors; mistakes cost you, but you are not locked out forever. Persistent world and conquest features: https://bloodandthundergame.com/features.
You can form bilateral non-aggression pacts or join named multi-member alliances. Alliance members cannot attack each other; leaders invite or remove members and can declare alliance war. Betrayal is allowed by design — either party can dissolve a pact or leave an alliance with no mechanical cooldown, so trust is a strategic resource. Cross-race alliances are fully supported. Strategy and multiplayer features: https://bloodandthundergame.com/features.
11
Can I script my empire without being a full-time programmer?
Yes. Use built-in city plans and battle postures from the UI, write your own DSL scripts when you are ready, or buy player scripts when marketplace commerce is live. Non-coders stay first-class; coders raise the automation floor, not a paywalled army ceiling. DSL samples and marketplace story: https://bloodandthundergame.com/scripting.
12
What platforms are supported?
Blood and Thunder is a browser strategy MMO. Play on a desktop or laptop with a current Chromium, Firefox, or Safari-class browser. There is no separate Windows, Mac, or mobile store client in early access — the game is the website. Play in your browser: https://game.bloodandthundergame.com/sign-up.
13
How do API keys work?
Generate API keys in game Settings. Keys use a bt_… prefix, Bearer auth, and the same /api/v1 routes the War Room UI calls. The full secret is shown once at generation; list views return prefixes only. Rate limits scale with empire size and apply equally to humans and bots. Public API details and samples: https://bloodandthundergame.com/scripting.

Where do I join Discord or send feedback?
Join the community Discord for discussion and bug reports, and use the feedback page for structured reports. Early access players shape the roadmap — tell us what broke, what felt unfair, and what onboarding missed. We will not fabricate social proof or concurrent-player claims.
